SUMMARY OF JOB: Under direction of the Compliance Officer, the Paralegal is responsible to ensure company 
compliance with state and federal health insurance regulations including, but not limited to, HIPAA Privacy and
Security, COB, Medicare Secondary Payer Rules, COBRA, Medicare Part D, etc. The Compliance Specialist will 
provide organizational support in filing form and rate documents/templates in several states using SERFF and 
HIOS database systems. This is a full-time, exempt position. Hours are generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday
through Friday.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Files policies, certificates, reports, rates, and other similar documents with state regulatory bodies in all
states where EMI Health is licensed.
 Works with the Compliance Department in responding to form and rate filing objections from several states.
 Organizes and tracks changes of plan documents through all stages of development.
 Assists in creation of medical, dental, and vision contracts as well as other tasks and projects as assigned.
 Assists in preparation of policies for filing with the Department of Insurance.
 Assists in production of member handbooks and contracts by inputting information and revisions as instructed, 
formatting final copy, and posting documents in HUB.
 Assists with legislative bill tracking in various states.
 Assists with Compliance Training
 Records and prepares minutes for Compliance Committee and Board Audit Committee.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
 Paralegal Certificate, Two-year degree in a related field with emphasis in technical writing; or two years related 
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 Proficient with Adobe Professional and Microsoft Word and Excel.
 Legal or compliance background preferred.
 Dedicated professional with unquestioned integrity, a strong work ethic, respect for others and the ability to
communicate internally and externally.
