SUMMARY OF JOB:

Under the direction of the COO, the Claims Manager is responsible for managing the daily activities of the Claims Department according to department and company policies and procedures. This is a full time, exempt position. Hours are generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees performance, productivity and quality standards of Claims staff.  Exhibits thorough working knowledge of medical, dental and vision claims.
  • Oversees claim inventory and production to ensure that staff meet production standards and organizational goals and adhere to all federal and state processing guidelines.
  • Oversees development of claims policies, department training materials, audit processes and monitoring tools.
  • Oversees hiring, training and terminating staff.
  • Supervises and directs the work of Claim Supervisors and Trainer.
  • Evaluates claim processes and recommends process improvements.
  • Prioritizes department tasks and delegates work assignments to accomplish department goals.
  • Oversees the claims appeals inventory and review process.
  • Resolves issues, questions and research items received from other departments.  Provides necessary reporting and recommendations to management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree (Bachelors preferred) or minimum of five years related experience in a similar position; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Working knowledge of claims payment systems.
  • Thorough understanding of CPT, HCPCS, ICD9/ICD10 and other industry coding guidelines.
  • Knowledge of terminology specific to medical, dental, and vision benefits.  Knowledge of State and Federal regulations related to the health insurance industry. (COB, Medicare, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, etc.)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Resolves exceptions and pends for medical, dental, and vision claims to a pay, pend, or deny status in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Reviews electronic and paper insurance claim forms and related documents for completeness.
  • Reviews claims information to determine the nature of a member’s illness or injury.
  • Determines and understands the coverage provided under a member’s plan to determine if claims are payable according to EMI Health’s guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Exercises claim judgement within policy guidelines to make claim payment decisions to pay, request additional information or deny a claim. Assists team members in support of achieving department and office goals.
  • Attends department meetings and training sessions.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED and at least two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General knowledge of medical, dental, and vision terminology, coding, and health insurance benefit plans.
  • General knowledge of Medicare Secondary Payer and Coordination of Benefits rules, preferred.

  • Coordinates all claims system related issues and updates.
  • Manages projects for the MBS department.
  • Supervises and directs the work of Editors, Processors and Admin staff.
  • Oversees Policy and Procedure management.
  • Oversees claim production to ensure that staff meets production standards.
  • Oversees quality assessment of staff output to ensure that staff meets quality standards.
  • Ensures that claims and adjustments are processed within the required guidelines.
  • Monitors the claim inventory and distribution of claims.
  • Evaluates processes for improvement and supports all departmental initiatives in improving overall efficiency.
  • Resolves issues, questions, and research items received from other departments.
  • Develops and provides reports and makes recommendations to management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Customer Service Supervisor, the Customer Service Representative interacts with customers to resolve problems, answer questions and explain insurance benefits and procedures. The Customer Service Representative handles inbound calls only, no outbound cold calls or sales pitches. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Interfaces with customers via inbound calls to provide solutions to routine inquiries about benefits and claims.
  • Researches customer information by effectively using internal technical tools in response to inquiries including but not limited to, authorizations, payments, coordination of benefits and eligibility. 
  • Investigates, analyzes and resolves outstanding issues to achieve customer satisfaction and takes responsibility for following through and bringing issues to closure.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of all customer interaction.  

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Effective keyboarding skills and computer knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with medical and/or dental insurance helpful.

SUMMARY OF JOB: Under the direction of the Provider Enrollment Supervisor, the Provider Enrollment Specialist updates and maintains provider files and resolves claims in relation to provider maintenance issues. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Updates and maintains provider databases, adds affiliations, and updates address lists.
  • Resolves claims in relations to provider enrollment issues.
  • Communicates with providers by phone and through written correspondence to resolve provider enrollment issues and to secure supporting documents for creating and maintaining provider records.
  • Works with other departments to fulfill requests for changes or additions to provider records.
  • Inputs data using database software on a personal computer.
  • Documents the claims system for routing provider issues to other departments.
  • Assists in 1099 process. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience using a complex database and spreadsheet software desirable.
  • Proficient with computer keyboard including ten key.(typing skills of 50 wpm., ten key skills 8,000 KPH).
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and organize workload.
